Preliminary Course – 1 Day

You will attend a single day preliminary course on which you will learn the basic theory of canopy flight. This day consists of SFS course safety, basic aerodynamics and an introduction into a safe and effective landing profile. You will make a recorded evaluation jump.

You will then study flight planning and basic accuracy, canopy discipline, equipment and the landing sequence. You will make a second jump to complete the course.

Preliminary Course – 3 Days

After completion of the first day outlined above, the three-day course consists of around twenty basic exercises. Each exercise must be performed at least once to ensure it has been correctly understood.

Further modules are studied on this course, including canopy dive flows, logging of the information collected and choosing a canopy. You will also be introduced to a further eight technical and essential in-air exercises.

Advanced Course – 3 Days

The advanced course will enable you to get a better performance from your canopy by flying consistently through gates or a lane. It also provides an introduction to Canopy Piloting Competitions.

In order to complete this course, you must have completed over 1,500 jumps or have completed the 3-day SFS preliminary course (or another recognised canopy school programme).

Competition Course – 3 Days

The competition course provides an introduction to flying in competition with specific techniques for flying speed, distance and zone accuracy. This course also introduces some Freestyle techniques.
